The AE520 is a true high-performance floorstanding speaker, but it keeps the clean, elegant proportions that define the 500 Series. At just 185mm wide, it remains visually slim, while its taller cabinet and multi-driver layout allow it to deliver the scale, weight, and ease expected from a flagship loudspeaker.

This makes the AE520 an excellent choice for medium to larger listening rooms where you want more presence, deeper bass, and greater dynamic headroom than smaller floorstanders or standmount speakers can provide.

Carbon Fibre Drivers for Speed, Control, and Natural Detail

The AE520 uses Acoustic Energy’s 500 Series carbon fibre driver technology throughout.

The 25mm carbon fibre dome tweeter is light, rigid, and naturally well damped, producing clean, open highs without harshness. It is mounted in a cast aluminium WDT waveguide for improved dispersion and better integration with the midrange driver, helping create a wide, coherent soundstage.

The 125mm carbon fibre mid/bass drivers use oversized 35mm voice coils for low thermal compression, strong motor control, and excellent dynamic response. The result is fast, articulate bass, clear midrange definition, and a natural sense of timing across a wide range of music.

True 3-Way Floorstanding Design

Unlike the AE509’s 2-way MTM layout, the AE520 uses a 3-way design with dedicated crossover points at 373Hz and 2.8kHz. This allows the speaker to handle bass, midrange, and treble with greater separation and control.

The benefit is a sound that feels composed and effortless, even when the music becomes more complex. Vocals remain clear, instruments are easy to follow, and the bass has real weight without overwhelming the rest of the presentation.

Resonance Suppression Composite Cabinet

The AE520’s drivers are housed in Acoustic Energy’s 18mm Resonance Suppression Composite cabinet, evolved from the company’s Reference Series. This constrained-layer cabinet construction helps reduce unwanted cabinet radiation that can color the sound.

By keeping the cabinet quieter, the AE520 allows more of the music to come through: cleaner vocals, sharper imaging, tighter bass, and a more transparent overall presentation.

Solid aluminium plinth bars are included for rigid floor coupling and improved stability.
