The Acoustic Energy AE Active is a fully active two-way standmount speaker designed for listeners who want the control, speed and simplicity of an active system without digital processing or unnecessary features.

Each speaker contains two dedicated 50-watt Class A/B amplifiers—one for the bass/mid driver and one for the tweeter—providing 200 watts of total system power. Unlike passive speakers, the AE Active does not require a separate integrated amplifier or power amplifier. Each driver is powered directly by its own dedicated amplifier channel, allowing Acoustic Energy to optimize the amplification and crossover specifically for the drivers being used.

Each cabinet contains:

• One 50W Class A/B amplifier for the bass/mid driver
• One 50W Class A/B amplifier for the tweeter
• A low-noise linear power supply
• A precisely configured active crossover

This direct relationship between amplifier and driver gives the AE Active exceptional control over timing, dynamics and low-frequency movement. Notes start and stop cleanly, bass remains composed and music retains its energy even as arrangements become more complex.

A Deliberately Analog Design

The AE Active takes a different approach from most modern powered speakers. There is no Bluetooth, built-in streaming, digital input or DSP.

Instead, Acoustic Energy maintains a fully analog signal path from input to amplification. The goal is not to place every possible feature inside the speaker, but to preserve the quality and character of the source connected to it. s also keeps the system flexible. Pure-Piston Ceramic/Aluminum Driver

The AE Active uses a 125mm ceramic/aluminum bass and midrange driver derived from the driver developed for the AE1 40th Anniversary.

Its lightweight but extremely rigid cone is engineered to behave as a true piston, reducing cone flex and unwanted breakup. This helps the AE Active produce bass with impressive depth and definition while maintaining clarity through vocals, instruments and the critical midrange. Wide, Focused Stereo Imaging

High frequencies are handled by a 27mm aluminum dome tweeter positioned within Acoustic Energy’s Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide.

The waveguide controls the tweeter’s dispersion and improves its integration with the bass/mid driver, helping create a wide, stable soundstage with focused vocals and clearly positioned instruments. A redesigned rear chamber further reduces distortion around the crossover region. Refined Cabinet Construction

The compact 18mm MDF cabinet incorporates extensive internal bracing and damping to reduce unwanted resonance. Acoustic Energy has also revised the rear slot port and refined the cabinet profile for this new generation.

A clean driver surround and slim magnetic grille give the AE Active a more modern appearance while retaining the purposeful, understated styling associated with Acoustic Energy.

RCA and Balanced XLR Connectivity

Each speaker includes both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs, making the AE Active suitable for traditional home hi-fi systems, balanced high-end components and professional studio setups.

Rear-panel controls provide:

• Independent input-level adjustment
• ±2dB bass adjustment
• ±2dB treble adjustment
• Automatic or continuous power operation

The room-adjustment controls can help compensate for placement near walls, reflective rooms or systems that need slightly more or less low- or high-frequency energy.

For the most convenient everyday operation, we recommend pairing the AE Active with a streamer, DAC or preamplifier that includes its own volume control.

Designed for Serious Two-Channel Listening

The AE Active is especially well suited to small and medium-sized listening rooms where its precise imaging, fast transient response and controlled bass can be fully appreciated.

Place the speakers on sturdy stands with some space from the rear wall for the most balanced presentation. Each speaker contains its own amplification and therefore requires access to an AC outlet.
