At the heart of the AE509 is Acoustic Energy’s 500 Series carbon fibre driver technology.
The 25mm carbon fibre dome tweeter is light, rigid, and naturally well-damped, helping the AE509 produce treble that is clear, open, and detailed without becoming hard or fatiguing. The tweeter is mounted in a cast aluminium WDT waveguide for improved dispersion and better integration with the mid/bass drivers.
The dual 125mm carbon fibre mid/bass drivers use oversized 35mm voice coils for high motor strength, low thermal compression, and excellent dynamic control. This gives the AE509 impressive bass depth and punch for its size, along with clean midrange clarity and fast transient response.
Slim Cabinet, Serious Bass
Despite its narrow footprint, the AE509 reaches down to 32Hz, giving it the scale and weight expected from a true floorstanding speaker. It is slim enough to fit comfortably into many living rooms, but capable enough to anchor a serious two-channel hi-fi system.
The cabinet uses Acoustic Energy’s 18mm Resonance Suppression Composite construction, evolved from the company’s Reference Series. This constrained-layer cabinet design helps reduce unwanted cabinet radiation, keeping the sound cleaner, more focused, and less colored.
Solid aluminium plinth bars are included for stable floor coupling, helping improve rigidity and reduce unwanted speaker-room interaction.
Built for Real Hi-Fi Systems
With 89dB sensitivity, 6-ohm impedance, and 175W power handling, the AE509 is a versatile speaker that can work with a wide range of quality integrated amplifiers, receivers, and separates.
It is a great match for systems where you want the refinement of a premium standmount speaker, but with the fuller bass, scale, and room-filling presence of a floorstander.
