The KLH Model Four brings the classic three-way acoustic-suspension design of the KLH Model Collection into a remarkably compact floorstanding speaker. Combining an 8-inch woofer with the same dedicated 4-inch midrange and 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter used in the larger Model Five, the Model Four delivers full-range performance without requiring a large listening room.

At only 13 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep without its riser base, the Model Four is especially well suited to living rooms and listening spaces where a traditional floorstander can feel oversized. Its sealed acoustic-suspension enclosure also makes placement more forgiving near walls and furniture.

Available in English Walnut, White Oak, and Black Ash, each pair includes magnetic grilles and KLH's angled steel riser bases.

True Three-Way Performance

Unlike many compact speakers that divide the entire frequency range between a woofer and tweeter, the Model Four uses a dedicated driver for the midrange.

An 8-inch pulp-paper woofer handles the low frequencies, while a 4-inch pulp-paper midrange reproduces the critical vocal and instrumental range. A 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter completes the design with extended, detailed high-frequency reproduction.

The result is a compact loudspeaker capable of reaching down to 46Hz while maintaining the openness and clarity that a properly engineered three-way design can provide.

Acoustic Suspension for Real Rooms

The Model Four uses a fully sealed acoustic-suspension enclosure rather than a bass-reflex port.

Besides providing controlled, articulate bass, the sealed design makes the Model Four less dependent on large amounts of space behind the speaker. That's particularly useful in real-world rooms where speakers may need to sit closer to a rear wall, cabinetry, or furniture.

A rear-mounted three-position Acoustic Balance Control provides further room tuning, allowing the midrange and treble output to be reduced by 1.5dB or 3dB when needed. This can be especially useful in brighter rooms with hardwood, glass, or other reflective surfaces.

Classic KLH Design

The Model Four continues the distinctive look of the KLH Model Collection with a wide, shallow cabinet, real wood veneer, period-inspired grille fabric, and understated proportions.

An included 6-degree matte-black steel riser base raises and angles each speaker toward the listening position while completing the classic KLH silhouette.

It's a design rooted in KLH's history without feeling like a reproduction of a vintage speaker.

KLH Model Four vs. Model Five

Love the Model Five but don't have room for it? The Model Four was designed specifically to fill that gap.

It uses the same 4-inch midrange and 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter as the Model Five, but substitutes a more compact 8-inch woofer and considerably shallower enclosure. The Model Five offers greater sensitivity, bass extension and overall scale, while the Model Four is easier to accommodate in smaller and medium-size rooms.

For listeners looking for the character and three-way architecture of the Model Five in a more space-friendly package, the Model Four may be the sweet spot of the KLH Model Collection.
