An Opera Reference, Reimagined

The Callas Edizione Speciale is an exclusive evolution of Opera’s celebrated Callas loudspeaker. Its compact dimensions make it easier to integrate than a large floorstanding speaker, yet its substantial cabinet, carefully selected drivers, and sophisticated crossover allow it to produce a remarkably full and convincing musical presentation.

The result is a speaker capable of delivering intimate vocals and small acoustic recordings with delicacy while still providing the weight, scale, and dynamic impact needed for orchestral, rock, jazz, and electronic music.

Natural, Expressive Sound

Opera loudspeakers are known for combining musical warmth with clarity and control, and the Callas Edizione Speciale represents that philosophy at its highest level.

Its presentation is refined without becoming overly polite, with a natural midrange that gives singers and instruments a tangible presence in the room. High frequencies are detailed and extended, while the large 7-inch woofer provides greater bass depth and authority than typically expected from a standmount speaker.

A rear-mounted vocal adjustment switch allows the speaker’s response to be tailored to the room, associated equipment, and listener preference.

Premium Scan-Speak Tweeter

High frequencies are reproduced by the renowned 1-inch Scan-Speak 9700 tweeter. Opera uses the driver without ferrofluid and pairs it with a double decompression chamber to support an open, controlled, and highly detailed treble response.

This carefully implemented tweeter allows subtle musical information to emerge naturally without introducing unnecessary brightness or fatigue.

Custom 7-Inch Long-Throw Woofer

A substantial 7-inch long-throw woofer handles the midrange and bass frequencies. Its specially treated polypropylene cone and integrated phase plug are designed to combine natural tonal character with excellent control and low-frequency extension.

With a rated response reaching down to 40 Hz, the Callas Edizione Speciale can produce convincing bass without requiring a subwoofer in many two-channel systems.

Exclusive Padouk Finish

The Edizione Speciale is distinguished by its beautifully figured Padouk wood finish. Padouk is a prized exotic hardwood known for its strength, stability, and intense coral-red appearance.

As the wood naturally matures, its vibrant coloration gradually develops into deeper and more understated brown and gray tones, giving each speaker a distinctive appearance that continues to evolve over time.

Upgraded Aluminum Detailing

For the Special Edition, Opera replaces the traditional glass top with a substantial 5 mm aluminum plate engraved with the model name. A newly designed aluminum connector plate is also fitted to the rear of the cabinet.

These additions give the Callas Edizione Speciale a more contemporary and substantial appearance while reinforcing the speaker’s position as one of Opera’s flagship standmount designs.

Wired Internally by AudioQuest

The entire internal signal path uses AudioQuest 16-gauge Semi-Solid Concentric Long-Grain Copper cabling.

Its controlled conductor geometry keeps the individual strands in a consistent position throughout the cable, reducing strand interaction and helping preserve low-level musical information. Long-Grain Copper also contains fewer grain boundaries and impurities than conventional copper conductors, supporting a cleaner and more detailed signal path from the crossover to each driver.

Flexible Amplifier Matching

With a sensitivity of 89 dB and recommended amplifier power beginning at 10 watts, the Callas Edizione Speciale can be partnered with a wide range of high-quality solid-state and tube amplifiers.

Its 4-ohm nominal impedance and 3-ohm minimum impedance mean it will perform best with an amplifier capable of delivering stable current into lower-impedance loudspeakers. Properly partnered, it can serve as the centerpiece of a truly exceptional two-channel system.
