Mighty Bass from a Remarkably Compact Subwoofer

The Perlisten R8s delivers powerful, precisely controlled bass from the most compact subwoofer in Perlisten’s lineup. Measuring only 11.7 inches high and 10.6 inches wide, it can fit into rooms and systems where a traditional high-performance subwoofer would be difficult to accommodate.

Its custom 8-inch driver, sealed enclosure, 500-watt RMS amplifier, and advanced DSP work together to produce fast, accurate low frequencies with extension reaching as low as 14Hz in Boost EQ mode. The result is a compact subwoofer capable of adding convincing weight and scale to both music and home theater systems.

Compact Enough to Fit Almost Anywhere

At approximately one cubic foot, the R8s provides exceptional placement flexibility. It can be integrated discreetly into a living room, dedicated listening space, media room, or compact home theater without visually dominating the room.

Its small enclosure also makes the R8s an excellent option for multi-subwoofer installations. Using two or more compact subwoofers can help create more consistent bass response across multiple listening positions while allowing each subwoofer to be placed where it performs best.

Available in satin black or satin white, the R8s can blend naturally into a wide range of interiors. An optional grille is also available.

Custom 8-Inch Perlisten Driver

The R8s uses a newly developed 215mm driver engineered specifically for its compact sealed enclosure. Its glass-fiber composite diaphragm combines rigidity and low mass to reproduce bass with speed, definition, and minimal unwanted coloration.

Multiple aluminum shorting rings, a lightweight aluminum voice coil, multilayer Nomex spiders, and a substantial magnet structure help control the driver throughout its operating range. Perlisten further refines driver performance using nonlinear modeling and Klippel laser measurement technology.

With up to ±28mm of linear excursion, the R8s can move a surprising amount of air for a subwoofer of its size while maintaining the control needed for accurate music reproduction.

500 Watts of Controlled Power

A built-in 500-watt RMS amplifier provides the power needed to drive the R8s confidently during demanding music and movie passages.

Amplifier functions and protection systems are managed by a Texas Instruments DSP with 48-bit data paths and a 32-bit ARM Cortex M4 processor. This powerful processing platform can respond in microseconds, helping the subwoofer maintain accuracy and composure as listening levels and source material change.

Advanced DSP and Room Integration

Bass performance is heavily influenced by the room. The Perlisten R8s provides extensive adjustment options to help it integrate properly with your speakers, listening position, and room acoustics.

Three factory EQ profiles provide useful starting points:

• THX EQ: Balanced performance for a wide range of systems
• Boost EQ: Greater low-frequency extension for larger rooms or listeners seeking maximum depth
• Cut EQ: Reduced deep-bass output for smaller rooms or placement near boundaries

A built-in 10-band parametric equalizer provides additional control, with three user presets available for storing custom configurations.

Crossover frequency, crossover slope, phase, polarity, level, and power settings can be adjusted through the integrated 2.4-inch color touchscreen or the Perlisten control app for iOS and Android.

Precise Bass for Two-Channel Music

For music systems, the R8s adds low-frequency foundation without sacrificing speed or definition. Bass guitars gain texture, drums carry greater physical weight, and full-range recordings feel more complete.

Its sealed acoustic-suspension design and extensive adjustment options help the R8s blend smoothly with bookshelf speakers, floorstanding speakers, and active speaker systems. When properly configured, the subwoofer supports the main speakers without calling attention to its location.

Serious Impact for Home Theater

Despite its compact size, the R8s can reproduce low-frequency effects with impressive depth and authority. Movie soundtracks gain greater scale, while explosions, engines, orchestral scores, and atmospheric effects become more convincing.

For larger rooms or more consistent bass across several seats, multiple R8s subwoofers can be combined into a discreet multi-subwoofer system.

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs allow the R8s to connect with a wide variety of stereo preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, AV receivers, and surround processors.

Matching unbuffered XLR and RCA outputs make it easier to connect additional subwoofers. Configurable automatic signal sensing and a 12-volt trigger provide convenient power control as part of a complete audio or home theater system.
